Pete Buttigieg Delivers An Obama-Inspired Speech In The Middle Of The Iowa Caucuses Confusion

The Iowa caucuses ended in chaos with a third of the vote still uncounted, but that did not stop Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg to deliver an Obama-like victory speech.

The first votes for the primaries on the Democrats’ side were cast on Monday in the state of Iowa, but the heads of the party revealed after several delays that due to certain inaccuracies in the results, they would be released on a further day.

The announcement created chaos amongst the candidate. However, with reports claiming that Buttigieg was leading in the preliminary results, the mayor took the stage to declare himself the victor.

The openly gay veteran said: “So we don’t know all the results, but we know by the time it’s all said and done, Iowa, you have shocked the nation. Because by all indications, we are going on to New Hampshire victorious.”

The state party spokeswoman Mandy McClure explained the political madness: “We found inconsistencies in the reporting of three sets of results. In addition to the tech systems being used to tabulate results, we are also using photos of results and a paper trail to validate that all results match and ensure that we have confidence and accuracy in the numbers we report.”

The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana went on to say: “We brought together an extraordinary coalition of Americans, progressives, moderates … and future former Republicans. And that’s how we’re going to win in November, because it’s about adding people to our cause, adding to our majority. We have exactly one shot at defeating Donald Trump. We’re not going to do it by overreaching, and we’re not going to do it by dividing, we’re not going to do it by saying ‘it’s my way or the highway.”

The self-proclaimed winner of Iowa’s Democratic caucuses was slammed for his speech, and he backtracked saying in an interview: “We were looking at the internal numbers that we had and beginning to realize that something extraordinary had happened last night. Here you have a campaign that was really questioned when we got in for whether we even oughta be here, whether we belonged in this race. And to not only establish that but to reach the position that we did was a clear victory for our campaign.”

Thus far, Buttigieg has 27 percent of the state delegate, followed by Bernie Sanders with 25 percent. Elizabeth Warren is third with 18 percent, and Joe Biden is sitting in the fourth spot with 16 percent while Amy Klobuchar is at 13 percent.
