Taylor Swift claims her first ever UK number one single
Taylor Swift has finally claimed her first ever UK number one single with ‘Look What You Made Me Do’.
The sassy comeback track shot straight to the top spot this week, after notching up 30,000 downloads and 5.3 million streams. In the process, Taylor broke global first day Spotify streaming records and also claimed the title of the most watched music video in 24 hours on YouTube.
‘Look What You Made Me Do’ is Taylor’s first UK number one single after peaking at number two on three occasions in the past with ‘Love Story’, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘Shake It Off’. The track is also her eighth UK top five single.
Taylor knocked Dua Lipa off the top of this week’s chart, with the ‘New Rules’ singer settling for second place after two weeks at the top. The top three is rounded off by Pink’s ‘What About Us’. This is the first time the top three has been occupied by all females since October 2014 when Megan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’, Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Bang Bang’ and Taylor’s very own ‘Shake It Off’ completed the top three.
Congratulations to Taylor for finally achieving that elusive number one single!
