There's millions of dollars worth of unclaimed money in Idaho. Some of it yours?
BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) — There's some spare change awaiting thousands of current and former residents who currently live in Idaho or at one time worked or lived in the Gem State.
In Ada County alone, there's about $30 million worth of unclaimed property.
Idaho Unclaimed Property receives money from corporations, business associations, utility companies, insurance companies and medical offices after there has been no customer contact for an extended period of time, usually five years.
To check the state's website, visit YourMoney.Idaho.Gov. Since the beginning of the year, the state has dispersed $3,223,915.
“While the amounts vary, any funds owed to you is money you can use for individual or family expenses," said Kendra Kenyon, Ada County commissioner. "Who doesn’t like to receive money they never knew was theirs, or had forgotten about? It happens to thousands of people each year.”
There is no fee to file a claim or receiving payment.
